Inspiration comes in may forms. Some may choose to hunker down at a coffeehouse, others may read good books and still others may turn to their faith. Now imagine filling a room with creative people who are armed with the motivation to inspire others to do real and permanent good within their communities. This is Ignite Philly.
Ignite Philly is part of a greater effort to share personal passions and ideas throughout the communities across the globe. The premise is that each speaker gets a total of 5 minutes - broken down into 20 slides that advance every 15 seconds - to share their ideas with the audience.
Past Ignite Philly events have been the venue to share such ideas like improving our educational system, sustaining the locavore movement through winter with food preservation ideas, and taking charge of your power consumption. Ever wonder how you can achieve your personal aesthetic? Yup, there's a video for that too.
The next of these events will be held on September 14, 2012 at Johnny Brenda's Bar in Fishtown. If you've never been to Johnny Brenda's, which I haven't, check out their FAQ page, which has a lot of good information about the venue, neighborhood and parking.
According to the Ignite Philly site, tickets are currently sold out, despite there not being an official announcement of the speaker lineup for the evening. I've sent an email off to the IP crew to get more information and I'll be sure to update this post should I hear back. If it's anything like previous iterations, I'm sure we'll all be in for a treat. Ticket prices range from $5-$250, depending on the recognition you want to receive for attending.
If you're one of the lucky people to have purchased your ticket already and it's your first time attending, you can check out their website which houses a lot of good information, including videos from previous events. Each video I watch whets my appetite for good ideas, inspiration, and of course, craft beer. See you there!
