Microsoft and CES's Pissing Contest

It seems that both Microsoft and CES are getting into the spirit of the January tech event in the typical Silicon Valley back-stabbing fashion.  As MG Siegler wrote on his blog this morning:

Not the other way around. Come on, these guys are smiling in the front while they punch each other in the back. That’s why I asked Shaw for his candid thoughts. He’s usually a big fan of giving them over Twitter — especially when Google is involved. But perhaps he doesn’t want to totally destroy the relationship here.

With all the legal posturing and maneuvering the tech industry has seen over the past few weeks (AT&T/Tmo/DOJ, SOPA, etc), is it any wonder these kinds of shenanigans still continue?  It's tantamount to one dog pissing on another dog's fire hydrant.  Can we please all just get over ourselves and see events like CES for what they're worth - a chance to showcase the industry and not let the public realize what a bunch of total jackasses tech company leaders are?  It's enough to make me roll my eyes.
