Want to use Ph.ly link shortener in TweetBot? You can!

Recently, I posted a how-to for using the Ph.ly URL shortener with Shortly for Safari. But did you know that TweetBot, the popular newcomer to the Mac Twitter client scene also supports custom URL shortener API endpoints? Here's how you can set it up:

  1. Grab the custom API endpoint specified in my previous post.
  2. Open Tweetbot and go to Preferences.
  3. Select the Account tab.
  4. Under URL Shortening options, select Custom…
  5. A dialog window will pop up asking you for the custom endpoint you'd like to use. Paste it here and select Save.

Once you've completed these steps, any long form URLs you paste directly into a new tweet box will automatically convert using this new endpoint. I've used it for several weeks without any problems.
